KC Brass Midfielder Kevin Nekuda Taken in MISL College Draft

January 29, 2008-Kansas City Brass midfielder Kevin Nekuda was selected in the 2nd Round of the 2008 Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) College Draft by the Orlando Sharks. Nekuda was a four year player for the KC Brass and started 12 of 13 games played in 2007 including all four U.S. Open Cup qualifying games and the first round of the U.S. Open Cup. In December of 2007 Nekuda was selected and participated in the United Soccer Leagues Player Showcase in Charleston, South Carolina.

Kevin was a four year starter at William Jewell College where he was coached by Chris Cissell. Nekuda earned Heart of America Athletic Conference 1st Team midfielder honors during his junior and senior seasons...helping lead WJC to a conference and regional championship in 2006 as well as a National Final Four appearance. He was also a standout performer in ODP representing the Missouri 1986 age group and also being selected for the ODP Region II (Midwest) Team on trips to Italy and Brazil. After his freshman year at William Jewell College Kevin was invited to the U19 ODP Interregional in Chula Vista, California where he was one of 20 players in the nation selected to the US Youth ODP All Star Team. As a youth Kevin played club soccer for the KC Legends coached by Tom Mura and Gareth Hughes. In high school he was a Missouri All State 1st Team and THE KANSAS CITY STAR All Metro 1st Team selection at Liberty High School coached by Tom Rottjakob.

The Kansas City Brass plays in the Premeir Development League (PDL). The PDL is the United States' top amatuer men's league and is a member of the United Soccer Leagues (USL). In 2007 the KC Brass finished with a record of 8-3-5 and finished in third place in the Heartland Division. In the past seven years the KC Brass has evolved into the choice destination for Kansas City's top amateur soccer players. In those seven years 23 KC Brass players have been drafted or signed professionally in Europe, Major League Soccer, USL-1 or the Major Indoor Soccer League. 

On May 11th the KC Brass will kickoff their 11th season when they host the Des Moines Menace at William Jewell College.
